[00:00:22] How Other Dads Dad
[00:00:30] This is actually just information about almost a new episode because Season 3 is imminent.
[00:00:37] For those of you that know, How Other Dads Dad is where I sit down with well-known dads.
[00:00:42] I'm Hamish Blake by the way in case we didn't put that in at the top.
[00:00:45] When I sit down with these other well-known dads they are kind enough to share their
[00:00:50] insights, their hopes, their fears, their strategies, the things they grapple with
[00:00:54] about being a dad in the hopes that we can all take something away from each other
[00:01:00] and become better dads.
[00:01:02] I have so much fun getting to have these conversations.
[00:01:06] I learn so much and whilst the show isn't meant to be funny, we laugh, we go deep.
[00:01:12] It's incredibly rewarding. Season 3 is pretty much in the can.
[00:01:17] It is one week away. So this is just me popping up to go do get ready for Season 3.
[00:01:22] You've probably already subscribed, but if somehow you haven't make sure you subscribe
[00:01:26] and so you won't miss an episode as they come out weekly over the next two to three months.
[00:01:31] If you haven't listened to all of Season 1 and 2 I suppose this is also my little chance
[00:01:36] to gently remind you you got a week because there'll be a really hard test at the end.
[00:01:42] There's no test. But you know if you want to go back and just jam a few in before Season 3 starts
[00:01:48] hey that's what podcasts are for. But before you go back and listen to Season 1 and 2
[00:01:53] how would you like to hear about 60 seconds of out of context wisdom from some of the guests
[00:01:58] coming up on Season 3? I thought you might like that. Please enjoy.
[00:02:04] We've got Wayne Ho.
[00:02:06] Jeez, I'd love to say to some men, hey, before you even get to the capacity to go
[00:02:11] yeah I'm going to go out and teach you skills and do stuff
[00:02:16] you might just need to go and do the work on yourself and that will be a gift to your child
[00:02:19] like if you can get stuck into yourself they will benefit so much from the work that you do.
[00:02:26] Artist, Ben Quilty.
[00:02:28] There is another way and that's to give them a $2 shop drawing book and draw
[00:02:33] and all of you draw and we have piles of these drawing books which are hilarious
[00:02:37] drawings of see how ugly you can make dad. Give them the book and let them draw you
[00:02:42] as ugly as you can. And you realise before long the whole restaurant at first
[00:02:47] thought why the fuck are they bringing a three year old into this restaurant
[00:02:50] and at the end they're all jealous that they're not sitting at your table.
[00:02:53] Santo Chilaro. I said mate I specifically said to you
[00:02:57] this is not going to get out of hand is it? And he goes but dad don't you see
[00:03:01] we lie to you that's what we do.
[00:03:05] Play Schools Luke Carroll.
[00:03:06] I was a young father I was 22 years of age when I had my eldest boy
[00:03:11] so I was basically just a young man myself.
[00:03:14] Patrick Bramble.
[00:03:15] It's like fatherhood or love or any of those kind of nebulous concepts
[00:03:22] it becomes a part of you and it's a reflection of the edges of you
[00:03:26] and the insides of you and you learn shit about yourself
[00:03:29] and it's uncomfortable and it's also extremely joyous.
[00:03:32] And who am I forgetting?
[00:03:34] Yeah great question.
[00:03:37] We chatted to Dr Richard Harris who is the incredible Australian of the year
[00:03:42] who helped the children in the Thai cave disaster.
[00:03:46] We got a New Zealand this season to chat with my old mate Brett
[00:03:50] from Flight of the Concords which is super fun.
[00:03:53] I get to take my own kids on a little survival and wilderness skills adventure
[00:03:58] with Rick from Alone Australia if you're a fan of Lonely
[00:04:02] and even if you're not he's the guy with the giant beard
[00:04:04] plus there are a couple more chats that we not 100% sure we have yet
[00:04:09] so we don't want to promise anything we don't have in case they fall through.
[00:04:12] And as always at the end of every season
[00:04:14] we've got behavioural pediatrician Dr Billy Garvey
[00:04:17] he stops by, analyzes the episodes from the season
[00:04:20] and gives us his expert thoughts on what we're talking about
[00:04:25] and how that matches up with what he actually does
[00:04:28] in his professional and clinical experience.
[00:04:31] That's always a super fun episode so there is a lot
[00:04:33] and also me listening and nodding
[00:04:36] and then saying stuff as well if appropriate.
[00:04:38] Good luck Animesh.
[00:04:39] Oh that's good isn't it?
[00:04:40] Cut that's good you should be ending that in the archival.
[00:04:43] I think this better we cut down in the podcast home.
[00:04:45] I forgot about the podcast now I'm lost.
[00:04:47] Can't wait to talk to you for episode one.
[00:04:49] Animesh is her dad that loves to be dead.
